Train the Trainer programme open for applications

Following a successful pilot programme that we are delighted to announce that the Train the Trainer (TtT) programme is now open for applications. The programme is specifically designed to enhance the capabilities of educators in the fields of deep tech (DT) and Innovation & Entrepreneurship (I&E), to address the significant gap in the integration of deep tech and I&E content in higher education, and aims to build a robust community of well-equipped educators who can foster a more dynamic and integrated approach to teaching deep tech and I&E.

Why is the Train the Trainer programme important for the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative’s mission?

The Train the Trainer programme is crucial for the EIT Deep Tech Talent mission because it directly addresses the skills gap in deep tech by:

  • Developing Competence: Beyond technical skills, the programme focuses on developing the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours necessary for educators to train successful entrepreneurs.
  • Shaping Mindset and Behaviour: It emphasises personal dispositions and behaviours that are essential for navigating the complexities of the deep tech industry.
  • Integrating Holistic Training: Through the principles of effectuation and the EntreComp framework, the educators that participate in the programme will teach their students to be technically proficient and competent in applying their skills in real-world entrepreneurial scenarios.

What challenges is it trying to solve?

  • Knowledge Integration: Many educators lack the skills to effectively link I&E with deep tech content, which is crucial for preparing students to establish start-up businesses in the tech sector.
  • Engagement: There is a need for more engaging and innovative teaching materials that can captivate deep tech students while imparting essential entrepreneurial skills.
  • Teaching Techniques: Educators require training in advanced pedagogical techniques to enhance the learning experience.

Who is the programme for?

The Train the Trainer programme is specifically designed for university-level educators in the fields of deep tech and I&E. The primary target audience includes:

  • Deep Tech Educators: Highly educated in STEM and deep tech, looking to combine their scientific teaching practices with innovative methods to inspire entrepreneurial mindsets in students.
  • EE Educators (I&E educators): Experienced in teaching entrepreneurship and looking for novel approaches to engage technically skilled students aiming to start deep tech businesses
