Budapest Metropolitan University
Our pledge
At Budapest Metropolitan University (METU), our commitment to innovation and entrepreneurial excellence drives us to join the EIT Deep Tech Initiative (DTTI). As Hungary’s largest private university, we specialize in business, communication, tourism, and arts, and are dedicated to equipping our students with forward-thinking skills that foster creativity and technological proficiency. Our motivation is to cultivate a new generation of leaders who are adept in deep tech and entrepreneurial ventures, aligning with the initiative’s goal to nurture talent in advanced technology fields.
METU’s contribution to the DTTI focuses on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) development, entrepreneurial skills, and mindset development into our educational programs. Our goal is to prepare students to excel in deep tech sectors by fostering an environment that encourages innovation and entrepreneurial thinking. We aim to bridge the gap between traditional disciplines and cutting-edge technology through strategic initiatives and coursework designed to cultivate a versatile and dynamic skill set.
AI and Digital Innovation Hub Expansion: METU will expand its AI and Digital Innovation Hub to include cutting-edge AI labs and incubation spaces. This expansion aims to support the development of innovative AI applications and solutions, providing students with enhanced resources and opportunities to engage in advanced research and practical projects. The hub will also facilitate collaboration with industry experts and tech startups, offering students a unique platform to turn their ideas into actionable technologies. Learn more about our AI initiatives.
Entrepreneurial Leadership and Design Thinking Integration (Pilot integration was implemented during ABCD project): We plan to integrate a comprehensive Design Thinking course into our Entrepreneurial Leadership Program. This course will guide students through the process of ideating, prototyping, and iterating on innovative solutions to real-world problems. By focusing on user-centered design and creative problem-solving, students will develop critical skills that are essential for launching and managing tech-driven ventures.
Annual Student Hackathon (First Hackathon was organised within the framework of ABCD project): METU will host an annual hackathon aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration among students. This event will challenge participants to develop creative solutions to pressing issues in deep tech and beyond. The hackathon will provide a hands-on learning experience, encouraging teamwork, rapid prototyping, and problem-solving under time constraints. It will also serve as a platform for students to showcase their talents and connect with potential employers and industry partners. Find out more about our hackathon events.
Measurement of University-Industry Partnerships: To ensure that our educational programs remain aligned with industry needs, METU will implement a system for measuring and evaluating the impact of our university-industry partnerships. This initiative will involve regular assessments of collaborative projects, internships, and training programs to gauge their effectiveness in preparing students for careers in deep tech. By continuously refining these partnerships, METU aims to provide students with relevant skills and experiences that enhance their employability.
Targeted Training Programs: METU will develop targeted training programs in collaboration with industry partners to address specific skill gaps and emerging trends in deep tech. These programs will include workshops, seminars, and hands-on training sessions designed to equip students with practical knowledge and expertise in areas such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, and digital entrepreneurship.
