Our pledge
Our organisation offers training and several courses in key areas of deep tech, including Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Blockchain and IoT. Through our PhD Programme in Computer Science and our Masters Programmes in Data Science, Informatics, Computer Science and Engineering, Cybersecurity and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, we are committed to training the next generation of innovators to tackle global challenges.
However, our commitment to education and training goes beyond our courses and includes several initiatives geared towards professionals.
We are participating in the effort associated with the Recovery and Resilience Plan – PRR in the Adult Impulse strand. To this end, we developed non-degree advanced training courses aimed at all who want to obtain or improve their skills or increase and perfect their qualifications, geared towards the labour market. The courses tackle current challenges in fields such as climate change, resources management, digital health solutions, web accessibility, and software verification and validation. Additional information is available on https://construirofuturo.edu.ciencias.ulisboa.pt/.
Our researchers also developed targeted training programmes, such as:
_The Cybersecurity Executive Program, in collaboration with PremiValor Consulting, directed at executives and decision-makers in Armed Forces and law enforcement, among others, in Europe that aims to provide an overall comprehension of the risks and challenges on organisations resulting from an increasingly digital economy.
_The Web Accessibility Auditors and Facilitators training sessions, in collaboration with Agência para a Modernização Administrativa, I.P. (AMA), that graduated the first certified accessibility specialists in Portugal.
We have also recently joined the programme UPSkill – Digital Skills and Jobs, a re-skilling programme that responds to the lack of digital talent national companies are confronted with in their digital transition processes by retraining unemployed or underemployed people in the various areas of Information and Communications Technologies, guaranteeing them employability.
At the international level, we have recently participated in the H2020-funded Twinning project WideHealth that aimed to establish a sustainable network of research and dissemination across Europe for digital health and organised a Cost Action funded Training School on Accessible Embodied Interaction with participants from the industry and academia.
Finally, as an institution aware of its role in building an inclusive society, we aim to reach sections of the population under-represented in STEM areas through an active participation in outreach initiatives such as Girls in ICT, which is aimed at promoting STEM education and careers to young women.
