Ionian University
Our pledge
Teachers of all levels often find themselves challenged by the rapid pace of change in digital technologies, which demands continual adaptation and learning. Among these technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI) stands out as a particularly transformative force, with the potential to revolutionize numerous sectors, including that of education. Despite its vast promise in enhancing student learning outcomes, the effective implementation of AI in the classroom necessitates targeted training for educators. This is considered as a rather high challenge, since teachers are often reluctant to change their existing approach and methods for education. This course is designed to bridge that gap, equipping teachers of all levels (but primarily those of secondary education) with the knowledge and strategies they need to harness AI as a powerful educational tool rather than perceiving it as a disruptive threat.
One of the primary issues of pedagogical and educational research is the increasing requirement for customizing education processes and material to the different learning profiles of students. AI technology enables educators to cope with this requirement by developing in an efficient way training material that suits the diverse learning profiles of students, but also organizing the education process, so that all students can effectively participate and achieve their learning goals.
The proposed course targets educators of all levels. Emphasis will be given on attracting teachers of of the secondary education with the aid of the Greek Institute of Education Policy. The course will be delivered as part of a life-long course delivered by the Lifelong Centre of the Ionian University. We expect the impact of this course to be great in both quantity (more than 500 educators from both countries), but also in quality, since educators are considered as critical change agents in the participating countries’ human and financial ecosystem.
