Our pledge
RTU is proud to join the Pledge and contribute to this important cause. We are strongly committed to cultivating a culture of deep tech and entrepreneurial thinking in our students. Through the RTU Science and Innovation Centre, we have implemented a wide range of courses, e.g., Vertically Integrated Project study course, that help to improve the skills in deep tech such as problem-solving, innovative thinking, and technology development. We are also actively working on creating more collaborative research and development partnerships with industry and actively promoting the commercialization of our developed technologies. All of these initiatives are aimed at helping our students tackle real-world challenges and prepare them for the many opportunities of the future.

About
RTU is an accredited higher education establishment and research organization of Latvia. RTU’s vision is to be a modern and prestigious university, internationally recognized as the leading university of science and innovations in the Baltic States – a cornerstone of the development of Latvia. During the last decade, RTU has particularly focused on strengthening the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. RTU is investing efforts in creating a modern innovation ecosystem and offering hands-on experience to the students, i.e., best global practices and models have been used to create the RTU Science and Innovation Centre. RTU Science and Innovation Centre is not about teaching and bringing knowledge in a frontal way but rather learning through experience. RTU Science and Innovation Centre has established a partnership with the European Innovation and Technology Institute (EIT) knowledge communities – Climate-KIC, Food, Urban, and RawMaterials and has implemented several programs to engage, educate, and create climate-friendly, sustainable thinking, action, and business. So far, RTU Science and Innovation Centre has previous experience in the establishment of start-ups, the process of promotion of commercialization of products, development of new products and technologies, cooperation projects with merchants for the development of innovative solutions for the resolution of practical problems in the industry, as well as the development of work environment-based innovation skills of students.
