Romanian Society of Medical Infomatics

Our pledge
The Romanian Society of Medical Informatics (RSMI) is a dedicated participant in the EIT Deep Tech Pledge initiative. As an organization at the intersection of healthcare and technology, RSMI recognizes the transformative potential of deep technology solutions. These solutions address complex societal challenges by leveraging advanced scientific and engineering principles. Unlike conventional technologies, deep tech solutions require substantial research and development efforts, often involving significant capital investment. The primary risk associated with deep tech lies in technical feasibility, while market risk is mitigated by the clear societal value these solutions offer.

RSMI actively contributes to the EIT Deep Tech Pledge by fostering innovation, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and supporting research that advances medical informatics. By engaging with the EIT initiative, RSMI aligns itself with the global mission to address critical issues such as climate change, sustainable energy, and healthcare. The intellectual property generated by RSMI’s deep tech endeavors contributes to the broader ecosystem of knowledge and innovation, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to societal well-being.

The Romanian Society of Medical Informatics (RSMI) actively contributes to digital space of health by organizing conferences, courses, and events that bridge the gap between healthcare and technology. Here are some initiatives:

RoMedInf Conference: the RoMedInf Conference is an annual event hosted by RSMI. It provides a platform for researchers, students, and professionals to engage in meaningful discussions about digital healthcare and medical informatics.Participants can explore cutting-edge developments, share ideas, and network with like-minded peers. The conference encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and fosters innovation in healthcare technology.

EFMI Special Topic Conference: In partnership with the European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI), RSMI hosts the EFMI Special Topic Conference 2024 in Timisoara, Romania. The theme is “Collaboration across disciplines for the health of people, animals, and ecosystems”. This conference brings together experts, researchers, and practitioners from various fields, including healthcare informatics, digital health, and education.

Training Sessions: The sessions, in (and not limited to) Digital Literacy, Digital Healthcare Literacy, Scientific Literacy, Security challanges in Healthcare, e-Privacy and GDPR in Health, AI applications in Healthcare, taught by RSMI members, play a crucial role in enhancing the challenges of today’s healthcare landscape. By leveraging the expertise of academic professors and industry experts within RSMI, attendees gain valuable insights. This collaborative effort underscores RSMI’s commitment to promoting excellence in medical and health informatics education and ensuring that future healthcare professionals and technologists are well-equipped to succeed in their fields.

About
RSMI is a scientific, professional and non-governmental organisation. RSMI aims to promote active research and development of the health informatics community in academic, commercial and medical fields both at home and abroad. Romania has been represented by RSMI as a corresponding member of International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) since 1986 and became a full member of IMIA in 1994. Also in 1994 RSMI became a member of European Federation of Medical Informatics (EFMI). SRMI currently leads several working groups of IMIA and EFMI.
