Our pledge
Motivation to join the Pledge is our active participation, as the associated business partner, in EIT HEI Initiative SMART-2M (Cohort 1) project and DEEPTECH-2M (Cohort 3) project activities related to the realised trainings for several Deep Tech areas, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing and Bioengineering. We have actively participated in delivering lectures in these areas within the newly established Online School ‘DeepTech and Innovation’, http://deeptech2m.eu/index.php/2023/12/25/deeptech-and-innovation-online-school-april-15-19-2024/, and previous ‘Innovation and Smart Manufacturing (with Deep Tech intro)’, https://smart2m.eu/index.php/2023/02/08/3rd-online-school-innovation-and-smart-manufacturing-may-8th-12th/. Online School have been organized for 5 times over 3 years, with more than 2500 trainees attending the school, from more than 30 countries. Also, we have participated in organization of the First Deep Tech Open Science Day Conference, http://deeptech2m.eu/index.php/2023/12/25/prvi-deeptech-otvoreni-dan-nauke/, in the form of the exhibition fair and live training event, with more than 120 registered and more than 500 visitors (academics, non-academics, PhD, MSc and BSc students, high school students and companies, also including governmental representatives and top management of the University). We feel that it is important to train the young people, and especially PhD students for the Deep Tech and contribute to solving global challenges and support the mind shift of researchers toward applicative research, innovations and research commercialization.

We are preparing to submit the application to the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative Call for Training Proposals, to continue excellent results in Deep Tech Talent training that we achieved so far, by upgrading our Online School towards the fully commercial MOOC training in DeepTech and Innovation, focused on Artificial Intelligence applied to specific sectors, according to the expertise of the team members: Advanced Materials, Cybersecurity, Advanced Computing and Clean technologies.
To ensure further impact driven outcomes and training sustainability, we engage Fatima Zivic, a proven expert in organizing and delivering lectures in these areas.
